Sinopsis
Cuentan los Akatekos acerca de cómo se les apareció al Arcángel San Miguel, y la historia detrás del nombre del pueblo.

La aparición de san Miguel Arcángel
Cuentan que hace cientos de años en una pequeña aldea llamada (pueblo antiguo)
Un día san Miguel se le apareció a un señor que aunque asustado y sorprendido escuchó su mensaje,
San miguel le pidió hacer una madera ancha y colocarla en un lugar seguro cerca del río.
El hombre así lo hizo y se fue a su casa. Pero cuando regresó al tercer día, sorprendido descubrió en la madera la figura de San Miguel.
En ese lugar le construyeron un templo,y desde ese entonces se convirtió en nuestro patrono.
El pueblo fue nombrado Mekel Ja K’atan (Miguel cerca de Ti). Y tras la llegada de los españoles San Miguel Acatan en honor a San Miguel Arcángel
Así lo contamos los akatekos

The apparition of Archangel San Miguel
They say that hundred of years ago in a small village called Old Town
San Miguel appeared one day to a man who, although scared and surprised, heard his message,
San Miguel asked him to make a wide wood and place it in a safe place near the river. The man did so, and then went home.
But when he returned on the third day, surprised, he discovered in the wood the figure of San Miguel.
In that place they built a temple, and since then he became our patron saint
The town was named Mekel Ja K’atan (Miguel close to you)
And after the arrival of the Spanish it changed to San Miguel Acatán in honor of San Miguel Arcángel.
